Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my cookbooks?

Please allow up to 1 week of processing time once we receive your content. This does not include the shipping time, which can take up to 7 business days. Rush orders are available. Please contact us for further details and pricing.

I'm so busy and don't have the time to create my own cookbook from scratch.  Do you offer an option to purchase a pre-made book that we are able to personalize with our own content?

Yes we do!  Our Ready-Made Book includes 30+ of our favorite recipes and allows you to add your own personalized pages to the book.  (ie. Story of Us Page, Dedication Page, Photos, etc.).  The Ready-Made Book is a fast and easy alternative to creating your own book from scratch.  Just keep in mind that if you have specific preferences with regards to fonts, formats, templates, etc. you will need to create your own book from scratch.  The Ready-Made Book cannot be customized entirely whereas creating your own book from scratch can be configured exactly as you wish.

If we decide to purchase the Ready-Made Book, can we still add our own recipes?

Yes you can - up to 10 recipes.  You can add up to 10 of your own favorite family recipes to the Ready-Made Book.   These recipes will be included in the "Family Favorites" section of the book.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by Paypal, Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover® or American Express® Your credit card will be charged when you place your order.

What's the minimum number of cookbooks I have to order?

The minimum order is 55 cookbooks.

Does 1 page count as one or two sides of the paper?

1 page is 1 side of a sheet of paper (i.e., 2 pages = 1 sheet of paper)

Do you add page numbers to the books?

Yes we do unless otherwise specified. Please view our Tips and Ideas page for ideas on how to construct your Table of Contents page.

Can I put more than one recipe on a single page?

Yes, you can put whatever fits on a single page, but remember that since the books are approximately 5.5" x 8.5" when printed if you are looking at a normal sheet of paper (8.5” x 11”) it will be about 50% of the size that you see.

What font size should I use in my book?

Not all fonts are created equal in terms of size so it's hard to recommend a standard font size.  The most common edit we see made after the first proof is provided, is an increase in the font size.  Remember, the books are 5.5 x 8.5 which is noticeably smaller than a standard sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper.  **You should always select a font size that compensates for the smaller page size.

Do you edit our recipes?

Cookbookfavors.com does not proof, edit, or change your content in any way. This means it’s your responsibility to review your recipes before we publish. We print directly from the files you send us, so if there’s a mistake in your file, that same mistake will be in every one of your books. So please double check your files before sending them to us.

How do I PDF my book content to you?

If you are using a scanner to create your PDF's, there are several programs that allow you to do this.  A simple Google or Yahoo search on "how to create a PDF from scanner" yields several options for you to choose from.  We leave this to your discretion on what program to use.

If you are using a word processing program like Pages or Microsoft Word to create your book content, follow these simple steps to convert to PDF:

In Windows, using Word 2007 or newer: If you're using a recent version of Word (2007 or newer), the easiest way to create a PDF file is to click "File > Save As ..." and select "PDF File" as your file type.

In Windows, using an older version of Word or a different program: You can convert your files to PDF for FREE by using a great new converter called doPDF. Simply click here to download doPDF and select "Run" when prompted. This installs a virtual printer named "doPDF" on your computer. With it, you'll be able to "File > Print ..." to create a PDF from any Windows application. Then choose "doPDF" as your printer. The first time you use doPDF, hit the 'Preferences' button and change 'Graphic Resolution' to 600 dpi (near the bottom right of the window.)Hit 'OK' and your Preferences are all set. Hit 'Print', make sure 'Embed fonts' is turned ON, and it will create a PDF.

From a Mac: PDF conversion is built right into your system. To create a PDF file on a Mac, simply open your file, select "File > Print", then click the "PDF" button at the bottom left and choose "Save as PDF ...".

Do I have to submit my book content as a PDF?

Yes, if you are creating your book from scratch you will need to send us the book in .PDF format.  However, if you are ordering the Ready-Made Book, just follow the steps in the "Create your Book" tab.   Some of the page options in the Ready-made Book will give an option to upload your content (ie. Family Favorite Recipes),   The content you upload for the Ready-Made Book can be in any legible format since we will be re-formatting that content to match the rest of the content in the book.

What is your return policy?

When you reply with your written approval to move forward we will no longer allow any refunds or exchanges for cancelled orders. Again, the only exchanges that we offer will be if your book arrives damaged or a manufacturer defect.
